My darling
The days are so long
under your mask
when you stumble along
the night ends in gasps
Home in your bed
you're stripped of your facadee
come clean, come here
my lonely broken batman.
Quiet. No sounds
you're focusing on your breathing
you're scared of the sound
of your own heart rapidly beating
In the dark
you lie
wide eyed and thinking
this savior of mine
is ever so slowly sinking
Alone in your head
there's another kind of evil
you've stopped reaching for the hand
of a very broken batman
As a child you swore
to find the color of the sky
from the depths of the sea, upward you fly
but the air, my darling
is not what you thought you'd find
and the cold ground calls for you now
one last try
you give in
to the power
to the fleeting emotion
to have it be yanked from your fleeting devotion
something once loved
will always me lost
my dear, lovely, broken batman.
