Believe
I used to believe in
 dreams and miracles
 The lingering touch of warmth
Diverting all that wished to invade
My soul with a numbing cold
I used to believe in forever
 But with each broken promise
 Forever quickly degrades into rags
 From rags to riches
Each pure piece of “always” and “forever”
 Is stained black by oblivion
I used to believe in happily ever afters
 But we never remember
 The roots of fairy tales
 Every rose has a thorn
And life is a Brothers Grimm tale
