Blooming Seashell
Tiny seashells tucked in my ears
Twenty hours a day
I hear loud noise
Yet no waves of the sea instead
I hear my escape
Every day and night I
Fill my ears with rap and ballads
Anything but the constant fighting
They wonder what I’m listening to
Anything but you I reply
They don’t hear me and the music continues
I cling to my two strands of hope
Like a rope ladder reaching somewhere I can’t climb to
Two buds, blooms before bloom
Carry me to faraway lands
Where love exists and joy can be found
Just me and the sound on an island
I hear the stories, wishing they were mine
The music is transporting, transforming
I need to listen I want to create.
