What is depression really? Is there one concrete definition, or has the meaning loosened as our generation has continued it's downhill descent? To me, depression is simply my life. I'm not suicidal. I'm not a cutter. I don't hate the world. I don't dress completely in black. I'm just sad. I've been sad for what feels like my entire life, but that's not true. I was happy once and I can vaguely remember what it felt like, but I can't touch it. I can't get that happiness back, I don't know how. That's what depression is to me, knowing what happiness is, but never being able to touch it, to feel it.- Jenny Leigh

Do you want to come with me
To the pink pearl land under the sea
Where the black blue coral blinks like eyes
And the stars shining reflections are pretty lies
Tangled grey green seaweed weeping
Moving along peach pie rocks a’creeping
With tigers claws sharp and broken
Tearing through illusions sparkling spoken

And in the grotto the siren sings
Strumming bleached bones of men she brings

Pirouetting purple waterfalls
Spinning, shaking waterfalls
Like the silk of my lady’s dress
Shattered mirrors in a smooth mess
Looking back at me a fascinated face
Trying to gather the pieces of a broken place
Four chambers in a human heart
Four chambers from the finish to start

And in the grotto the siren sings
Strumming bleached bones of men she brings

Do you want to come with me
To the pink pearl land under the sea
Where time stands still
You can wander wonder in the mill
They make pretty puppets there
With seaglass eyes and seahorse hair
They’ll dance for you and I
Then cry because they know they’re a lovely lie

And in the grotto the siren sings
Strumming bleached bones of the men she brings

And when the night day’s done
We can seasalt somersault under a seashell sun
And we might fall off the edge
But birds we’ll fly full fledged
Still they’ll say you can’t fly underwater
That you can’t be or breathe underwater
Close your blind blue eyes
Let white waves hold you while hope dies
Sinking to my kingdom under the sea
Where life and love ceases to be
Stones in the pockets of your mind
What was that you left behind?

And in the grotto the siren sings
Strumming bleached bones of the men she brings

What was that you left behind?
