Sunrise
He never shuts up,
 always talkin’ about love and
living this day like it’s our last.
 Never stopping to wonder
if loving is a waste of time
 because really,
 loving’s all he’s got.
 Living in a hallway wearing
 the same ratty clothes
 every day, washing dishes
to keep the bills at bay and
 playing the four string
 to release just a
little bit of that love his own way.
I think that’s why I like him, anyway.
 He’s got a hope and a spark
that someone like me could feed off of.
 He doesn’t care when
I steal spare change for coffee,
 says he can help me.
 Says he’ll always be there.
I can’t guarantee the same but
he doesn’t care about that, either.
Just in case we don’t wake up tomorrow,
 let’s be in love tonight.
Just in case nothing is the same
 when the sun comes up,
 let’s live today for us.
 He’s something to
look forward to, that’s for sure.
And even when I could care less if
 the sun comes up tomorrow,
 he’ll always be there
to remind me why it should.
 And that’s enough.
