You should know that you’re gorgeous,
From your roots to your toes
It’s not society who defines you
You define them, I suppose

For how could you discern
What the world sees in you,
You can’t read its thoughts,
So you simply construe,
What people see in you
Or rather, what they do not.
You are only you,
Now, give it some thought:
Unless you are more
Than one person alone,
You must understand that
Society’s unknown!

In fact, it’s a myth,
No more real than a story,
A fairytale made
Where only some get the glory.

But we are society,
And we can define it.
This is your world for the taking
And you must design it!

Don’t say you’re not good enough
Don’t say you lack beauty
Because then it’s yourself,
Who’s deserting your duty.

You’re defining your society
While shutting you out,
For this I could yell,
I could scream, I could shout
Because you cannot tell
What society thinks
Unless you’re a wizard,
Or a really good shrink.

The world’s like a forest,
We, people are trees.
Society’s our book
But it’s like a disease.

Each page from a tree,
Of us it consists,
But if we had not helped,
It would cease to exist!

Society’s like a parasite,
It needs us to survive
But I swear that if you cut it loose,
Your confidence will thrive.

You define yourself by your own terms
And no, it’s not cliché,
The truth is you are gorgeous
Don’t picture you another way.
