The Dark
Sometimes I whisper.
To myself.
In the dark.
I trust the dark.
But now I think about it-
it's better at hiding-
Better than people are.
But at least in the dark
I feel comfort, contentedness.
I can whisper what my heart feels-
what it fears-
and no one can hear.
Sometimes I just have to say it.
Say what's there-
what's important.
And if no one's there,
they won't know.
And they can't take it away.
