Cold Yesterday
Never ending flakes
Cold puffs of white
The frost covered grass crunches under our feet
frozen to the ground
Our sweet clouds of breath
dance in the night of tomorrow
As moon stares down
it’s light illuminating the field
glow touching the trees
Kissing the faces
of the wild
the open
I can feel the light flutter of your pulse
The beat under my palm
warm to the chill that lingers in my fingers
The December air that wraps around the tips of the pine
holding our bodies together
Midnight sings with the mockingbird
Almost here
The small chirps of the crickets
speak to us
The sound of old
The ancient time
of the world
spinning in orbit
spinning the dreams of many
The frigid air still spinning in my memory
twinkling specks in the dark sky
burning in my mind
the gentle touch
the soft remnants
floating in the cold breeze of yesterday
