At Bat
Stepping up to the plate
I tap the upper right corner,
spin the bat up to my shoulder
and wait for the pitch
My stomach is turning
eyes on the ball as it comes into reach
deciding to go for it
I load my feet and watch as my swing
connects with the ball
I start to sprint to first
The crowd is cheering as I round the base
Time is ticking as I get to third
listening to my coach,
I run for home and slide into the base
As the ump calls safe the crowd erupts into cheers
standing up, I wipe the dirt off my short
My teammates high-five and congratulate me
The feeling I have when I get a
home run is like no other
