The Mound
On the little stub of dirt in the middle of the field, I stand there waiting for the sign. The infield is down and ready, and the catcher gives the sign. Fastball, yes, I pitch it, a strike. Thats one. People cheer but I’m still focused, fastball, yes. Again a strike were the hitter is behind. The crowd cheers again. Fastball, no, this time something different, Change-up. The ball comes significantly slower and the batter lunges forward way to early. He foolishly swings out. Crowd cheers again as loud as they can, but I just smile.
