Permanently written
I was a mistake in my father’s eyes,
he tried to fix me by erasing away my existence.
I was my mother’s world,
she wrote a life for me that she would fight to keep perfect.
I was a disappointment to him,
he ripped up the paper of all my future dreams.
I was her perfection,
permanently scribbling out the imperfections of his harm.
I was his breaking point,
making him realize that he couldn’t cross me out.
I was her realization,
that he was the mistake that needed to be erased.
