The Good Girl
So you want to know about me
 Who I am
 What is burrowed underneath
 this shell
of superb grades, incandescent smiles, and model behavior
You always hear the cliched mantra,
 "Its what's inside that counts".
But what is it, exactly, that's inside?
What dark, obscure world inhabits me,
 anticipating its unfateful discovery?
 What miscreations remain unacknowledged
in the corners of my mind,
hungrily awaiting to consume its unknowing prey?
How many black-bellied demons have been exiled
into the shadowed hills and valleys
 of my soul,
restlessly waiting for a consent to play?
 In every good girl
 is a being
who is foreign to even themselves.
A being who is not quite straight A's
 not quite content
 not quite well-mannered
But you still want to know about me.
 Who I am.
 But the real question is,
 who am I?
and do you dare attempt to shatter the glass
 of my facade?
