Putting Myself Away
Studded boots, pop of color, British flare
A rebel soul to young to care
They say too sugary bright and sweet
Ever thought, it was to hide inside defeat?
My cookie-cutter pop tones in my veins
Underneath secret screaming rock stains
Shows just how much you know about me
To only look at what is plain to see
Shocking this comes from ones who write
Told to investigate past a dying light
So I carry on with quotes across my arm
After all, it can’t do any harm?
And after all the rant and rave,
Defending my being I cave
So the polka dot sneakers hide in the closet
Waged against myself I feel I’ve lost the bet
I tried on the dress that the clerk recommended
A shade of peach that would make a pony offended
Sliding on heels getting ready to pretend
I’ve lost myself; the game has come to an end
