The Rose Petal Has Fallen
enslaved to blood
that burns his veins
he holds back a flood
of emotions
that twist and tear
his very essence
right down to the
very core
that holds him
together by a
worn thread
threatening to snap
at a moment’s notice
and yet he still
talks to himself
to keep sane
in this desolate place
where ghosts live
and the living haunt
but they do not
realize that the
beating of the drums
long ago fell silent
when the last
rose petal
had fallen.
