Sonder
A force as strong as the smell of gasoline
It lingers and burns for the quickest of seconds.
Eyes water and lips tremble
The heart skips beats.
It appears from time to time
Sometimes always in one spot.
When you’re alone at night.
Driving in your car.
When you’re surrounded by people on a crowded city road.
But none of them are whom you want to see.
You’re hit with sonder.
A force as soft as a summer’s breeze.
But still just as lingering.
