Your hunger is a hammer
Around the same time everyday
It’s pounding on your brain and stomach
Making you visualize
About what is waiting in that lunchbox.
Your tummy grumbles after every strike
Aching to be filled
Your head annoyed by the endless call
Looks at the clock ticking ever so slowly
Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick…
Waiting for the signal for lunchtime.
