Snowflakes fall
Two by two
In pairs
But no two
Exactly the same.

Winter takes its toll
On the animals
In the pond
For their home
Has been frozen over
The cold to blame.

A small chick roams
The blanket of snow
Across the land
Searching for life.

But there is none
For winter is
A time of strife.

The author's comments:
This poem is about how there are some points in our lives when we feel like we just don't have anyone to be around. You may be excluded from others to be alone. You might also dream up the thought that you are alone, but really there is always company; all you have to do is look under the surface or under the pond so to speak. The top of the pond may be frozen over, but if you have the will to "go down a little deeper", then it could be buzzing with life.
