What Can They Do But Burn?
Some of us are prepared to burn
ready to go up in flame
for those we love
Heroes with no regard
for Death's rules
plunging in and
burning out, brightness
flaring for an instant
before being overtaken
by the shadows
Some of us are afraid to burn
stepping back from the fire
back from the edge
Cowards with no sympathy
for the damned
skirting around the shore
sticking to the dark
no light illuminates their path
Then there are those who are eager to burn
pushing others in with us
just to hear their screams
Demons with only a thought
for the game
dancing 'round and 'round
cavorting in the sparks
setting the world ablaze
igniting each crevice
nowhere for mankind to hide
we will find every last one
and invite them to play with fire
we will set them smouldering
with a flash, a flare
the world will turn to embers
For what can they do but burn?
