The Shepherd's Prayer
I found myself chanting the Lord’s Prayer, because someone has killed a thread of zeal God, spare me from the Devil’s lair, and spare me from the hate I feel
I crawl through the Shadowlands alive, because a single love committed suicide.
I fell asleep on the dark side and woke along still water
Come and fill my cup till overflowing; forgive each son and daughter
Lay me beside green pastures and wake me beside blue, flowing waves
Pull me from the hateful thoughts and save me from the grave
If the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, but I need a love that is missing, and the gaping holes not healing to be closed
Be the ultimate physician and mend our broken souls
I found myself chanting Jesus’ Prayer, because one has roughened my path
God save me from the slayer and the dealer of wrath
Our Father, which art in Heaven, I crawl to your feet again
Hallowed be thy holy name and my daily bread, please send
Let your will be done to my undeserving self
They Kingdom come, by your will, and fill our homes with health
I’m a fallen angel or perhaps a risen Devil, forgive my every debt
Take me to higher levels and forget my each regret
If my Father is in Heaven, lead me to everlasting
Forget not your servant and the world that is passing
Make us pure, make us whole
Be our shepherd and our Father and mend our broken souls.
