Away
I've been away for so long
did anyone know I was gone?
I've been hiding in my mind
but no one saw the signs.
I've been away from the world
while your lives unfurled
and watched the rain pour
while you found a new dress
that you just adored
I stayed in the safety of my mind
only looked up when the stars aligned.
I've been away so long
Did anyone know I was gone?
I sang a lonely song
and now my time is gone.
I never looked up
but neither did you
no one saw me disappear
I guess I was never loud enough to hear.
