Work
White walls, silver spoon, black cauldron pot
White salt, silver steam, black cauldron pot.
Graham Heckler surrounds himself in the kitchen with the same scene.
Everyday same routine.
Pre-heat-the-stove. Cook-the-soup. Taste-the-soup. Tweak-the-soup.
Mixing and dumping and dumping and mixing
White hat, silver mirror, black counter top.
First day same as last day, tomorrow same as today
White tile floor, silver bowls, black clock.

5:00PM

Transition
Graham washes his silver silverware and bowls
Floors washed, walls scrubbed, black cauldron pot polished.

Graham, with a single bead of sweat, locks the door
And enters the black ally behind the restaurant
Passing the dumpster he hops onto his tiny motor scooter
He rides down the gray gravel road and looks at
The white clouds contrasting with the dark sky
He parks and enters his home
5:46PM

Home
White walls, silver carpet, black tabletops
White wood frames, silver curtains, black doorknobs.
Graham Heckler surrounds himself at home with the same scene.
Everyday same routine.
Take-off-the-apron. Keys-on-the-table. Untie-his-shoes. Go-to-sleep.
Sleeping and dreaming and dreaming and sleeping

Heckler dreams:
Blue walls, yellow spoons, purple cauldron pot
Orange wood frames, red carpet, green doorknobs.
Heckler twists his French mustache soaking in the colors
For when he wakes up he knows they will all be gone.
