"Well, Coach, I'll Tell You"
Well, Chaquille, I’ll tell you:
Life for me ain’t had that much touchdowns.
It’s had sacks in it,
And hard hits,
And interceptions thrown,
And not as many touchdowns or touchdown passes.
But all the time
I’se been a climbin’ on,
And reachin’ the landin’s,
And hiding from fame,
And sometimes goin to abandon houses
Where there ain’t been no light.
So boy, don’t you put your head down.
Don’t you look at that ground
‘Cause you finds it’s kinder hard.
Don’t you turn back now
For I’se still goin’, boy,
I’se still climbin’,
And life for me ain’t had that much touchdowns.
