&quot; For I know the plans I have for you,&quot; declares the Lord, &quot;Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.&quot;<br /> -Jeremiah 29:11

I've told myself,
Oh so many times,
that today
will be the last time.

My regrets
are far from clean.
But every nightmare
started as a dream.

A dream for good,
that's what I'm told.
But secrets from me,
even my mind holds

Even though my thoughts are pure,
my intentions far from disaster.
But my own mind,
is hard for even me to master.

So now my dreams,
over nightmares never won.
But could it be not too late?
Could they somehow be undone?

The author's comments:
When I wrote this poem, I was thinking about how many times as humans, we start with good intentions (dreams), but those good intentions cloud our judgement and cause us to do something we regret (nightmares). But even if we do something we regret, we can always change. It's never too late to change. Your past can't define you as long as you strive to become a better person.
