Pendulum
In this vexing vortex of cacophony,
 This whirlpool of broken feelings
 And broken people
 Broken promises
 And their broken sequels
I have stood still for an eternity
 Built upon nanoseconds
 Rusting from the storms of
 "Always" and “forevers"

 Stagnant, I stand
 Contemplating…
 Pondering…
 Over the options
 "Should I nourish the worms?
 Or can I undergo combustion?"
 Sporadically
I am given a little push
 And unto me
I am given a rush of energy
I am given a sickening euphoria
 Instilled with the illusion
Of being able to meet my maximum potential
 Circled by the familiar touch
 Of solitude
I settle into my highs and lows

 And with each lowering high
 And each beckoning low
 I understand more and more
 That at the bottom
 Is a sempiternal low
 That I cannot escape

I have stood still for an eternity
