Heartbreak
When heartbreak occurs,
It feels like every fiber of your soul
Has been destroyed
Left to wander the spiritual depths of the world
For eternity
Never receiving closure,
Going neither to heaven or hell
You are left to feel numb in your purgatory
Most days anyways
On other days you feel as if there is no hell
Greater than the life you live
You feel as if nothing else could be taken
That would value as much as the relationship lost
So much time invested in one person
So much time just recklessly wasted on love.
You built up their ego as they tore yours down
Respected them at all costs just to be degraded by the minute
And you never got paid for any of your time
There was no rewarding end
Just the devastating loss of someone you mistook as love
Someone you dared to dream for, hope for
Someone you dared to complete
A molded figure of yourself was created to match the shape
Of this other life form you mistakenly believed you were connected too
Now here after everything is all said and done,
Everything you had created and chosen to become,
Now has to be destroyed and refined back to the old you
The life you two created together has to be shattered
And if you're smart you will throw away all of the pieces to the lost relationship
Hold on only to the small shards that are harmless,
The shards that only shine rainbows in the light,
Not the ones that cut skin; make blood flow in the night
Hold on only to the necessary, and never forget
That these things happen for a reason,
Try not to live
In a purgatorial existence
Because you need to rebuild and restructure the life you want
Don't leave yourself in shambles on the floor
Just because one construction worker decided to burn away the blueprints
