One Laugh
Her dreams hold nightmares
That are beautiful
She dreams of monsters so pretty
They couldn’t compete with any sunset
Yet, the longer you look
The more of them melts away
Until you’re looking at nothing
But ugly
You see hideous beasts
Who then merge into beautiful girls
Who die,
They live to die and die just trying
Trying to be alive
Her soul is tortured, but as it unfolds
You see the universe
The good, the bad, the happy, and sad
As you look into her eyes you see an abyss
But when you look deeper
You will almost always lean in for a kiss
Because you’ve finally found,
What it means to be loved
To finally mean something in the world
To be enough for someone
No more crying out into an empty room
Fist ready to hit sheet rock
Because everything you have
Is nothing to any one else
It means nothing to the world,
And to the world’s people,
But it means everything to her.
She may be even more lost than you
And far more confused
But she knows where to end up in the end
She knows where to go
Because she follows hope
And believes in people
Believes in the goals others deem impossible
She believes.
It’s simple.
Nothing is out of reach,
And nothing is to be feared
Except for the fear of failure
Never lean to close to the impending doom
That failure holds
Instead, she says, to stay as far away as possible
Dream the impossible she dares
Because as long as you have dreamed it
You’ve already succeeded
You have already believed in yourself
You’ve hoped and now
You can never fail
You’re prone to it,
Don’t turn into a drone with
No ambition
No dreams
No hope
No.
Just don’t
Because then I fear that you have failed
You have lost the game of life
You listen to her voice and you feel
Like everything is possible
Life is a puzzle that you have already solved
A million times before
Just look for the things you’ve already seen
Fit that piece here and that one there
Then take a minute to see the big picture
You see the big picture
Because of her
You know now what it is the wind whispers
Every time it takes a round all around the world
Just to land upon your face and move on
You know what that message means
You know that you are alive, and you are alive to dream
You know the answers to all of your “what ifs”
Because you realize
Your “what ifs” are just regrets
That are far easier to just forget
To move on and live freely
Live freely dreaming
And hoping, even believing
You know,
That when time is up, you have the rest of time
To show her
To show her you’ve learned, lived, and laughed
Show the whole universe that you have Changed
You have learned that love lost,
Is just love found
And that this life isn't as complicated as we make it
We live to dream and be happy
And she has shown me that,
With just one simple laugh
