As you fell asleep in my arms
Late last night,
I saw right through you.
Darling,
Your exterior is rough,
Calloused,
And scarred.
But darling,
Beneath your tough skin,
I know just who and what you are.
Fragile and bruised,
You are looking for more than a
Hand to hold.
As you pulled me closer
And mumbled in your sleep,
I saw you.
Don't be frightened,
Pretty darling,
I'll be your bed,
Your notepad,
Your keeper.
