Why Lie?

As a little girl I’ve always wondered why people lie.
The same people that tell you it’s wrong continue to do it.
Is it only right when sparing feelings
Or advancing in life?
But when the other person finds out, they usually do,
Where is the justification?
Could you explain to them why you lied?
Would they listen to you
Or trust any word you say?
You lose part of a person you love.
They forget the reason you lied,
But remember the lie.
