Phoenix
I lived in the dark
without light or sound
Alone, in silence
Nothing but pain around
I lived in the dark
But then came an ember
Pulsing and glowing
A miniature heart
of red and gold
I lived in the dark
But the ember grew
Chasing the black away
Burning
It made me anew
So I lived in the light
Reborn with scars
But I spread my wings
to soar among the stars
And the dark vanished
Gone
with a reputation tarnished
Yet I’d rather be
in the light
than in the dark
Because I am alive
And really, that's a start
