Nostalgia of the Heart
my arms extend, as if i were to envelope
you in an embrace. the kind where
your chin rests atop my head softly,
hands snaked around my waist.
my bottom lip trembles, waiting for
the gentleness of yours to come and
calm the longing i have for you.
my legs, intertwined, rub against
each other trying to fulfill the
sense of friction your legs
used to create against my own
under our fleece blankets, watching
our favorite movies.
and in the sea of sheets i lie in, my
body searches for your warmth, my
eyes for your smile and your
light shade of brown eyes.
our hearts must've emerged from our
chests during out sleep, intertwining
with one another's because its been awfully hard trying to forget you as i
lie in this naked bed, trying to imagine
you in it. and my heart
aches
and cracks
until it breaks
with the knowledge of you never
coming back home.
please tell me:
out of everyone who could've left,
why you?
