Sleepless Nights
Sleepless nights dreaming nightmares
With our eyes wide open
Of children’s laughter
Little feet running into endless nothing
Falling down far from grace
Away from open arms
And loving hearts waiting
Motherhood over before it began
A heartbeat stopped
Before it was aloud to drum
No choice but to think
It was all because of me
That they fell in vain
It couldn’t be anything
But pointless hopes and dreams
Relationships shattered
Our lives being pulled apart
At their very seams
Tears create a river
That carries life away
Why do we dream
Of children who can not scream
Lifeless as the light in our eye
The “thousand yard stare”
Set in the irises of you and I
Sleepless nights tare us apart
