Ode to Odes
O’ode.
You are so impossible
To write.
Your persnickety rules,
Grasp me.
And don’t release me.
You intertwine yourself
With my poetic spirit
And kill,
Slowly, and painfully.
Your tight form,
And short lines
Destroy the elegance of my words.
You make it impossible for me
To create a masterpiece for my reader.
And yet, I love you.
A challenge very necessary.
And greatly desired.
