The hallway was silent
A long lasting silence
No slamming lockers
No disoriented bodies moving in crowds
No music
No cliques
No teachers
Just impenetrable silence
The hallway was silent
But remnants of noise still lingered
Trash littered the floors
Forgotten property tip toed to the lost and found
No basketballs bouncing
No royal blue cheer skirts
No bell ringing
No bleachers creaking
The hallway was silent
But it was the loudest noise I’ve ever heard
