Harmony
In the eyes of someone else:
Seagulls call out to me in the distance.
Saltwater splashes up the side of the pristine boat
as we hit a small wave
and coats me in a cooling mist.
The sail is our engine
as the wind fuels us to new discoveries.
I hang slightly over the rail,
gazing into the deep, blue ocean,
looking upon the various sea creatures
near the surface.
I dream of a day
when I can stay here forever,
in perfect harmony with the world.
In my eyes:
Far away, seagulls scream and cry at me.
The salty seawater splashes up the side of the boat,
attacking me when we hit even the smallest wave.
The wind constantly yanks my hair,
whipping loose strands around my face,
and chilling me to the bone.
The sail’s bright red hues torture my eyes as I look up,
and I am forced to gaze into the deep, dark waters
which holds creature I have never seen
and I hope I will never meet.
But when the wind dies down,
and the seagulls swallow their cries,
and we’re finally back on the dock,
I am in perfect harmony with the world.
