I am attempting to have a conversation with you.
So please
Put your cellphone away.
These are the words I so wish I could say.
You’d never hear them anyway.
But I feel the sting
Of your unvoiced slight.
Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat,
Are evidently more absorbing than me.
Don’t worry about it.
I completely understand.
I don’t take pictures, or send iMessages.
You can’t use me to check your email.
Or stalk that boy, who’s sitting one table over.
Why would you willingly give that up?
For just a chat.
