Just Thoughts
everyone forgets
this and that
and everything else in between
and me,
and i hide between my sheets;
buried under the weight
of blankets and
of too many words to remember
(and too many to forget)
and i try to not remember
all the shadows squirming
in my blood,
and i drown them in
memories
and in coffee
that’s weak enough to put me to sleep
and occasionally in rain
that makes my hair cling to my face
and occasionally in tears
that make everyone i love seem far, far away
