20 Year Old Baby
The fact hits me
And I can no longer breathe
So I run
The more I run the more pain I gain
And the confusion fades
I run so hard I feel like I'm back in time
Back to this couple with smiles on their faces
And love in their eyes
Like they're the only two people in the world
There's a bump in her stomach
Where she holds their precious pink gift
Here is where they will share years of smiles and laughs
But then reality attacks
I'm in that same room
With the same couple
But they're looks of love have faded over the years
And words of hate are screamed
This is not the life they had dreamed
Their baby girl cannot sleep
So she lies awake and thinks
Until it all makes no sense
Life, love it all never lasts anyways
She lets a tear escape
Not out of fear but out of hopelessness
Cause she knows soon she'll be the same
Uncontrollably angry without anyone to blame
There will come a day when it will all end anyways
Why not now?
