This is What you Are
You are the most important,
The first flower poking out of the ashes of a fire
The steadfast yet fragile pillar of hope.

You are a beacon in the rain
You guided the lost out of their storms
 You are something else.

You are something strange yet incredibly wondrous
And you said I resembled the wings of a butterfly
Beautiful yet untouchable, because one touch would destroy me.

You tried to build me up
As if I were a brick wall.

But I am not a wall.
 I am a person.

And when my pieces stopped fitting,
 You abandoned me.

And how dare you say you didn’t want to ruin me,
To be so narcissistic as to think you ruined me.
I put you on that pedestal,
I chose to let you in.

 You didn’t ruin me,
 I ruined myself.
