Eyes filled with wonder
Stomachs churning with hunger
A soul yearning for nourishment
screaming, “Save me from this encasement!”

Garments tattered and disheveled
shoes inadequate and tattered
“Where is God?” Help this nation.
Doubtful hearts in motion.

Though beyond the brokenness lies
a beauty that dumbfounds all.
Bright blue skies and clear waters
shine light that resonates.

How can such a broken nation possess
such beauty within the darkness?
His works are so intricate
and brings hope to all.

This piece was inspired by my short term mission trip to Haiti that I embarked on with my church this past summer. It was strange how such a broken nation had so much beauty resonating within its corridors and I was in awe.
