Such a Sight to See
I have fought for thousands of years,
clashed my sword with mighty kings
I have seen brave, bold men die
fighting with the strength of their last breath
I have witnessed bloodshed so violent
even evil himself would have cried.
Yet, in all my years I have never seen war end because of love.
Would that not be such a sight to see?
The raging fire of hate calmed by the soothing waters of love.
Our swords would be sheathed.
Our bombs and guns dropped.
The relentless fight of war would cease
as we shake hands with our brothers and sisters,
as we mourn the loss of our comrades with the setting sun
Dawn is upon us with a promise of a new day
The sun will rise
And the lilies will regrow
The trampled grass with the passing of the days will stand up tall
And the landscape will be restored to its former glow.
Would that not be
Such a sight to see
If war ended
because of love…
