A Ray of Hope
My eyelids droop heavily with the weight of fatigue.
I’m trying to stay awake, but I just can’t.
Nothing in the visible world seems to intrigue
Colors seem to fade like a dying houseplant.
What can possibly assuage my languid mood?
Certainly not the gray saturnine sky laden with rain.
Nothing could revive me, not even food!
But hope would pierce the gloom like the headlights of a train.
Through a gap in the clouds, a blinding ray shone,
It dissolved the darkness and obliterated the fog
while lifting my spirits from endless drone.
How different the world looks, when gone is the smog.
A glimmer of hope lives within us all.
A penetrating ray of light stops the fall.
