Open Your Heart
First loves never truly go away
 So move on you ask,
 Get over me you say
I’ll get right on it in the next century
But my heart was still open,
 Which made no sense
You didn’t prevent me from opening it,
 I was just a mess
 I opened my heart
 Heeded your advice,
I just gave my heart away
 For the wrong price

It’s hard to me to understand
How I can still love you
 But love someone else
I don’t want to love you anymore
It’s too hard for me to do
 You moved on so easily
That I wonder if it was true
Or if our love was just a lie
Or a way for you to pass the time
 You were my first love
And maybe that is what hurts
 But I wasn’t yours
 And that’s the difference

 I can open my heart
 Now that I’ve found another
 Just as you did
 And move on
 This love is much better
 It’s more two-sided
 It’s easier to maintain
 And I’m not as insecure
 Our love is true
And one I don’t dare break
 I’ve opened my heart
 And there it will stay
 Because this time I know
I can keep it that way
