Or damning her everyday by what they teach

When you understand not every supports it
They don't get how their behavior affects you
They don't even know why they do this
Or realize the girl behind them, hearing this, is gay

When you feel so depressed
They don't know it's their words hurting you
They don't understand how you hide yourself
Or that it's because it's easier to stay in the closet

When you can't change or be cured
They say there's treatment
They say it's a choice
Or you'll burn in hell for not choosing God

When you're told all of these things
They don't realize it makes you stronger
They don't allow themselves to think about it
Or know that it's just making you want to be that person more

When you get support for the first time
They don't say harsh things
They don't tell you "how wrong" being a homo is
Or you need help

When you see other girls like you
You know for the first time you're not alone
You know it wasn't all for nothing
And not every person is cruel

When you meet the woman of your dreams
She will be better than anything you could have ever dreamed
She will love you for who you are
And you and her can look back at the haters and smile

When you forget that all the negativity mattered
You can't remember why you were depressed
You can't believe you let them get to you
And life isn't as bad as it was

When you finally get to be yourself
It's the greatest feeling in the world
It's the one that can't be replicated
But will continue to fulfill your heart
