The scent of summer
dawn poignant in the air
echoed laughs and hair blown wild
unknown goodbyes and tender smiles
reminiscent of that bright fire
yet dwindled now; sparks retired.
The embers glowing neath the darkened sky
flicker final sparks in faltering light
a farewell to the flames.
