Ignorance
There's this kid who sits in front of me
 In government class
 Let's call him Matt
 Matt is your typical
 White, Republican, Catholic
Who doesn't even consider ideas outside of his beliefs
Fortunately, he doesn't shove his beliefs on me
 But still
He is so insensitive to people who have a different view
He thinks that every other way is wrong
 Consider guns for example
 He'd be the poster boy
 For anti-gun control
If he were old enough to own one
Or any issue for that matter
 Like couples of the same-sex
 Who he calls "disgusting"
And says "The parts don't fit together,
 It isn't God's way."

 Then you have me
 I'm your average teenage girl
 I've been bullied
I've hated my body and had self-esteem issues
 But I'm very liberal, though
 Still white and Catholic
I think myself able to accept and think that other have different opinions
 Besides my own
That what I think isn't always what is right or should be done
His opinions are different than mine
But I accept his way of thinking
I support anyone who wants to be themselves and love who they want
I'm not trying to put him down
He's entitled to his own opinions
My point here is don't remain ignorant
There are ways to gently state
 Your opinions
Where no one gets hurt or offended
 When making an argument
 Remember your opinion isn't
 The only one
