Little Secrets

It was because
our veins were filled
with a little more than
blood,
It was because
our heads were spinning
a little more than
usual,
It was because
our bodies felt warmer
laying on the freezing grass than
they did in front of a
fire,
It was because
you had waited so long
to tell me something
I had waited so long
to hear,
It was because
you left me with
a little more than
just words on my lips,
It was because of all this
that I am sitting here
and trying to piece together
a memory that I can’t
remember half of,
but can’t seem to forget
either.
