Zig Zags
Tracing the drops of rain
as they slowly race
down the windows.
Creating zigs
and zags
in every which way.
Captivated and enveloped in this
distorted state of mind.
Trying to convince myself
it is still rain on the windows,
not just the reflection
of my own tired face.
My complexion is splotched
with bits of red and white;
streaked with
sadness.
Underneath
my blood is boiling.
All veins and arteries to my heart
have been severed.
I press on
zigging and zagging
my way through life
unsure of what is to come.
But sure of what has preceded me
and knowing I will not look back.
