Love Affair with the Night
I have this love affair with the night,
As the world sleeps soundly,
We are peaceful and quiet,
But still very much awake.
It stretches on forever as we drive down the freeway,
The lights shine bright as they pass us by in a blur,
The stars dance in the sky
As they play tag with the darkness.
We have a kind of possibility together,
One that is not seen by the sun
But by the moon and stars,
It’s part of the mystery of the night,
Anything can happen,
Anything can become true,
The night grants wishes as I dream.
And there’s something about the darkness of the night
When it mixes with the darkness in me
It calms me,
I have become part of the night,
A peaceful place,
The night’s possibility becomes mine,
Anything can happen,
I can be anything.
