Looking at Me
What is it that you see,
When you are looking at me?
Do you see the little girl climbing the tall tree,
Or the young girl picking flowers like it's a shopping spree?
Can you see the teen who dreams about what to be?
Maybe you see the young lady who is ready to be free.
If you look into my eyes can you see all the debris?
Come on honestly,
Even if you can, do you know the real me?
Look a little deeper and you can see,
The real mess inside of me.
The little girl who's moved all around,
The little girl who misses her home town.
The young girl that always wears a frown,
The young girl trying not to be found.
The teen that everyone puts down.
The teen trying desperately to keep the man off her gown.
The young lady who no longer wears her crown,
The young lady ready to drown.
These words I have left with you,
You need to let sit because I want your answer to be true.
Now I ask,
Please don't let your answers be masked.
What is it that you see,
When you are looking at me?
