Shrinking
People are constantly telling women
That they're not good enough.
They have to be quiet and pretty and helpful
And at the same time they're yelling at them
To speak up for once, stop being vain, stop fussing
But why are you so bossy? You look ugly. Why don't you help for once
Just stop being you and cater to my needs.
Look at her, be more like her, that's who you want to be
While she's being told to stop eating, wear less clothes,
talk less, be less
Until we're all shrinking in on ourselves
Fearing the time when we don't shrink fast enough
And someone tells us again-we're not perfect
Change.
Change because you're never going to be good enough
ENOUGH!
I am beautiful!
I am stunning!
I am perfect!
And I. Won't. Shrink.
I will grow 'til my pride affects others
I will grow until my self worth inspires others
And I will grow until everyone aspires-not for others
But for themselves
And it will be wonderful.
